Issue #12: Can Your Church Replant Other Churches?

Faithful & Fruitful Pastoring

If you lead a normative size church (75-100 avg. weekly attendance), you probably aren’t thinking about church planting. You might be supporting church plants, but sending out 50 people from your church with a pastor and worship team would stretch you too thin.

But have you ever thought about replanting a church? I believe the future of church planting is replanting.

Countless churches across North America are struggling. Some of them are barely hanging on. I just reviewed numbers from some churches in my area. Of the 40 listed, 7 reported 0 baptisms last year. 12 more reported 5 or fewer. These churches are dying. And unless something positive happens soon, closure is inevitable.

But this is where your church might provide a spark of hope. What if you partnered with a church that only had 15 members left? By God’s grace, they agree to turn over all leadership responsibility and authority to your church. You raise up a core team of 20 members alongside a competent pastor with a fresh vision and restart their church. All of a sudden, what was once a dying church is now a lively congregation with hope. They are encouraged to reach their community and worship God according to His Word.

Your church can do this. You don’t have to be a church of 1000 to replant a dying church. You just need a few good people and a leader with vision.

If you’re interested in learning more about this, contact me. I’d love to chat. And, check out Mark Hallock’s book, Replant Roadmap.

be a way that your church provides
